Introduction

To Hear and Obey

In this day and age there are many voices clamoring to be heard. Everyone has an answer and an opinion. But what if there were only one voice to be heard? Only one opinion? I along with other like minded people have been seeking, knocking and asking. For a surety there are two voices speaking in the world today. One voice is saying "take your life in your own hands as you see your own needs". The other voice is saying "give up your life, follow me, give me control of your life". The first voice mentioned here seems to be the most popular. So the obvious decision here is to hear the second voice "give up your life" and go with the minority. For with this voice if we follow will lead to a very narrow road. This road is not the scenic route either. Most maps will tell you that it doesn't even exist. In fact if you travel this path everyone around you will do everything in their power to get you off of it. I sincerely hope you have already made a decision to take this road, and since so few choose it may we see each other often in the fellowship on it. If you have not made this decision I pray that you would follow this journey. Shalom, Chris

The one verse wonders!

Shalom; In my previous posting I mentioned "one verse wonders". So let us go back to origins of what we call "the church". As the first fathers of our faith in Messiah Yeshua proclaimed this gospel what do we think they were teaching from? Where did they get a large portion of what they wrote to us in their letters to the believers in the faith? Certainly not the library or the internet. There was only one reference that they quoted, taught from and walked in. We refer to it as the Old Testament. A more proper name would be the Tanakh. In fact they quoted from every single book from the Tanakh. That in itself would say that the "Old Testament" is improperly named. It certainly wasn't old to them. The writers of the new testament (B'rit Chadashah) walked with a Hebrew Messiah and referred to the Hebrew text that has always been about and even prophesied His first and second coming. They understood the context of scripture and further expounded and revealed that One whom they had seen and heard in the flesh. Alas, men have snaked their way into the fold and assured so many of us that we needed someone to interpret te scriptures for us. But brothers and sisters it is our responsibility to repent for that which we have been partakers of. We need to return to His scriptures and work out our own salvation in fear and trembling. Awhile back I logged on to a website that appeared good at first. Until I read their statement of faith. In it they used a verse out of Isaiah to show how they studied the scriptures.
Is 28:13 And so the word of YHWH is unto them precept by precept, line by line.
But that is not exactly what the verse says nor the context of it.
Is 28:9-13 Whom shall one teach knowledge? and whom shall one make to understand the message? Them that are weaned from the milk, them that are drawn from the breasts? For it is by precept by precept, precept by precept, line by line, line by line; here a little, there a little. for with stammering lips and with a strange tongue shall it be spoken to this people; To whom it was said: "this is the rest, give you rest to the weary; and this is the refreshing; yet they would not hear. and so the word of YHWH is unto them precept by precept, precept by precept by precept, line by line, line by line, here a little, there a little; that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
This is certainly not how I want to be studying scripture. Yet all across this world we have teachers who create doctrines of men and great sounding theologies that flatter men's pride and their flesh. We need to return to the study of YHWH'S entire word, all His instructions for living, His Torah. Not the writings of men or the lofty sermons so many of us took for granted in the past. We have only one teacher and His name IS Mashiach Yeshua. I know that there are many good men and women who love YHWH their Elohim with all their heart, soul and strength. These I support and pray that they will continue to bring the truth of YHWH'S Scriptures to the nations.
Shalom, Chris
